Altman: ChatGPT Trust Is Surprisingly High
Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, has issued a clear warning to users about putting too much trust in ChatGPT.
While the AI tool has become widely popular and is used in everything from education to professional work, Altman emphasized that it still has significant limitations most notably, its tendency to “hallucinate” or generate incorrect and misleading information.
Speaking on OpenAI’s official podcast, Altman admitted he was surprised by how much confidence users place in the chatbot. “It’s interesting that people trust ChatGPT as much as they do,” he said.
“This is actually the kind of technology you should approach with a bit of skepticism.” Altman’s warning arrives at a time when generative AI tools are becoming increasingly embedded in daily routines.
He urged users to think critically about the information ChatGPT produces and always double check facts from reliable sources.
Despite recent improvements, such as the addition of long-term memory features, Altman reminded the public that no AI system is infallible.
His message serves as an important reminder: artificial intelligence can assist, but it shouldn’t replace human judgment or critical thinking.
