Knowunity Secures €27M to Reinvent Student Learning with AI
Education technology startup Knowunity has secured €27 million in Series B funding to fuel international growth and advance its AI-driven personalized learning experience.
The funding round was led by XAnge, with strong backing from investors including Portfolion, Isomer Capital, Project A, Redalpine, Educapital, and renowned angels Verena Pausder and Arthur Kosten.
Launched in 2020 by four teenage founders, Knowunity started as a collaborative platform for students to share class notes.
AI Meets Gen Z Learning: Knowunity Raises €27M
Today, it has evolved into a dynamic AI powered study assistant, currently supporting over 20 million learners across 15 countries.
By tapping into more than 3 million pieces of user-generated educational content, Knowunity’s AI adapts learning paths, provides real time feedback, and offers curriculum aligned guidance.
Its app, designed for mobile native learners, attracts a large and active student creator base of over 380,000 contributors, blending the familiarity of social media with serious academic support.

“With AI, we’re building more than a platform we’re creating a global companion for student success.”
This fresh round brings Knowunity’s total funding to €45 million. The new capital will support:
- Expansion into the United States and Asian markets
- Strategic hires in engineering, AI, and product development
- Continued investment in generative AI to deepen personalization and scalability
Knowunity operates on a freemium business model, combining free core features with premium subscriptions.
The company also partners with leading brands such as Vodafone and Porsche on education focused campaigns.
