London based Breathe Battery Technologies has successfully raised $21 million in a Series B funding round led by Kinnevik, with participation from existing investors Lowercarbon Capital and Volvo Cars Tech Fund.
The newly raised capital will be used to expand the company’s battery management software capabilities and further develop its advanced battery testing laboratory in London.
Breathe’s $21M Series B: A Big Step Toward Battery Software Domination
Founded in 2019 as a spinout from Imperial College London, Breathe specializes in physics based battery software aimed at optimizing charging efficiency, extending battery lifespan, and improving overall performance for electric vehicles (EVs) and consumer electronics.
The company’s flagship product, Breathe Charge, actively manages a battery’s internal states in real-time, enabling optimal charging strategies.
In addition to Breathe Charge, the company has launched three new products: Breathe Model, a simulation software for cell-level analysis; Breathe Map, a performance mapping tool; and Breathe Design, a platform designed to optimize cell design for cost-effective battery systems.
The newly acquired funds will support Breathe in accelerating product development, expanding its engineering team, and doubling the size of its London testing facility.
As the EV market continues to grow rapidly, Breathe aims to provide manufacturers with data driven insights to reduce hardware overdesign, streamline battery testing processes, and expedite development cycles.
